Just start it. It'll be fine. If you are real keen, you can pretty much do what Hopper suggests by taking the exhausts off and peering with a torch/feeling with your fingers. Provided to original forks are in good nick, the front end is fine.. Obviously it ain't as good as modern gear, but I've not felt the need to do anything further to mine, nor is it mismatched to the Ohlins rear.

The originals were painted white. The decal was applied with mask, yellow painted and the mask removed. I have original decals but they are unusable. I had a Hagon unit on mine. It was OK, but needed regular overhaul. I couldn't add remote preload adjuster so you couldn't adjust the preload which was a real pita. I didn't fancy spending more money on cheap shocks, and after some horrible wobbles at the Verandah one TT, I had a custom Ohlins done ...

Yup, that's me. I make a range of stuff. Once it is on the bike, you won't notice any difference.
