Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

Hi Katinas You have really worked hard, to file this important information. I am glad you share it with us on the forum. Keep up the good work. I am currently idle with further tuning of my CR barrelled racer for a while. Now the engine is working properly, without any issues, and have been ok the l...

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

Hi racer, This all season I experimenting with NS400 engine, more than 2000 km with more than 100 exit and again have new experience. All testing on standard ron 98 unleaded Neste fuel. Testing with different pipe, ignition, carburetion, airbox, spark plug, piston, compression and squish. What i und...

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

Hi again Katinas This spring I machined an offset woodruff key that retards the std ignition 5 degrees. It was a good mod, the engine have a prolonged powerband, and don't hit the wall as before. I still don't have a rev counter, but it also feels like having better overrun. Have used the bike at tw...

Re: New guy, looking for info on buying

... GP. Now that is a pretty bike! I have a picture of that bike and mine side by side. You wouldn't believe they were basically the same bike... The CR125 of around the same age used a crank driven ATAC system, similar to the RS500/NS500 GP bikes. So, due to the way it is driven, the actuation is ...

Re: New guy, looking for info on buying

... see how that goes when I get one haha So with the ATAC chamber, can you just block them off? I think that's what most people did with them on the cr125, but it seems a little more frowned upon here  and i assume the restrictor is just an additon to the chamber, rather than a modified integral ...

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

Hi Katinas Good research work there :D I hereby confirm that you are on the rigth track. I did similar testing on my own racebike years back. Retarding std ignition with only 2-3 degrees made good improvement i top Hp and overrun on a tuned engine. The easyest way to do it is by offset woodruff key,...

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

Hi all Last year I had a lot of time experimenting with the honda ns 400 engine [std. cylinders and pistons]. Head volume, squish band, pipe, fuel, spark plug, airbox modification. All my efforts and 2 stroke tuning knowledge, it seems fruitless strayed me sit mixed . All changes have dramatically i...

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

... post I have finnished rebuilding a RGV250 VJ23 Lucky Strike. A nice ligth bike wich is tremendous fun to drive :) I have also just dusted down my CR125 barrelled racer, and done some initial dyno runs. I have some gremlins to sort out though. Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

I just thought that if anyone wanted to try the CR barrel mod, these barrels seem a logical choice (budget wise) because you can use NS400R pistons and heads, just need to reposition one dowel, reshape rear exhaust port and inlets, bore to 57mm and modify chambers. What I actually have in mind for t...

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

Hey All, yep as I stated very early on when I first spoke about this mod the 1983-84 barrels are much easier to fit however they are not as long as the 85-86 barrels so you need to do alot more porting to acheive the ideal port heights, labour for porting is very expensive, hence why its easier to f...

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

Very interesting indeed. No great surprise as the base gasket is a suppression to the CR item but you've taken it to its logical conclusion and done your homework. Have you got a motor running and how hard was it to sort the different exhaust port angle and get it carburetor properly?

Re: CR125 barelled NS engine

I have made a whole album of photos comparing the NS400R and 1983 CR125 Barrels. I think these are better than the 1985-87 because the base gasket is exactly the same and the NS400R heads bolt straight on. Take a look and let us know what you think..... http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.397241637002599.90920.100001502994304&type=1&l=ccd914938b
