Re: Copper gasket?

Hi. Progress: To determine engine state and health. And to see if i should proceed with the head gasket swap i performed a compression test. Cylinder 1 6.75 Bar, cylinder 2 7.25 Bar and cylinder 3 6.9 Bar (with COLD engine). Next i will test what squeeze height i have in each cylinder. Maybe that wi...

Re: Whats

Hi. Thank you Ian to point out that it was ratio not pressure. 6.7 to 1 should had give it away that it was ratio... Yes i know of the excellent manual but I was blinded of my own when i read that the compression should be 1,200kPa +-200kPa at page 3-13 and did not thought of that there is another c...

Re: Whats

Hi Channel Hopper. Where did you get 6.7:1 (Bar?)? If that is the case I am glad! Then my engine is not worn at all with 6.75-7.2 Bar at -3 Celsius... In the workshop manual at section 3-13 i read: 1,200 +-200 kPa (12 +-2,0 kg/cm2, 171 +-28,5 psi) That is 11.8 Bar with warm engine! Do you think that...

Re: NS compression ratios - street & race

Hi. I measured compression on my bike today but afterwords i read the manual that states it should be measured with warm engine. I got 6.75, 7.25 and 6.9 bar at -3 Celsius... Now i do not know if that is ok or not because it may be better with warm engine... But how much? Is your measurement (5.66:1...

Re: Copper gasket?

Yes that's right that the chances for detonation in creases but i aim for Bell:s recommended 0.8mm and not trying to go less then that. As he put it that adjust it to where it intended to be... But the tolerances of the components (crankshaft, con rod, piston) have done that Honda was on the safe si...

Copper gasket?

Hi. I have thoughts abut to adjust the squeeze band with installing thinner gasket. In this case a copper gasket of 0.4 mm of thickness. According to A. Graham Bell (Two-Stroke Performance Tuning) i should aim for 0.8 mm in squeeze and the benefit is not just little more top end power most of it wil...

Re: About Time I Did Something With This Bike.

Hi. I see piston no 3 front right. Then you did not find any fault on center cylinder that got so hot? And no damages on that cylinder? (The spark plug looks ok) The marks on the piston could be damages from the bit that has loosen from the piston and got squeezed between head and piston. Or detonat...

Re: About Time I Did Something With This Bike.

Hi.
That is a sad sight.

But have I misunderstand something.

I assume that piston is from cylinder no2 (under the tank).?
But then it should be spark plug that is marked with no3 in the picture that was in cylinder no2, or?
Best regards, Luciano.
