Side Seat panels

Post by MarkBevans »

Anyone making copies of the side panels, desperately trying to find a repairable set for my restoration
Thanks!

Did you already check with Ian Wright from www.classicracereplicas.com?

I have a couple of them hanging up on the rafters, what colour are you in need of and how much damage do you think is acceptable ?

Any color, as I have no issues in doing bodywork to it but prefer something no too trashed, and I’m painting everything anyway as I bought Ian’s 2 piece main fairing.
Thanks kindly, Mark

Probably the better question, what colours is the finished bike to be in ?

The project I started is a really early production model destined for France, according to the sticker on the frame. Gonna do the original colors, as it was the blue/white without the Rothmans insignia. I bought the decal set from Ian.

The left side I just bought needs minor repair. So that with the Ian’s 2-piece fairing, the front fender and rear cowl will need a full primer/sealer prior to paint.

BTW, the bike came to me after a low speed crash, right side. Which means it needs a front fork tube and fix a very slight bend spot on each rim.
Engine and carbs are completely refurbished ready for installation, frame/swing arm has been cleaned and I hung electrical and heat shields battery box etc. Gas tank coated and primed, seat renewed. So far everything looks good,

I love this little project, I rode one back in 1985 when I had my brand new RD500LC, I loved the lightweight of it compared to the RD, that I wish I still had.

Thanks for the effort.

I just got word that the left side purchased and paid for and told it was shipped from Germany through EBay just canceled my order, bastards.

They said they made a mistake?!? Lol! Yeah bizarre for sure, this was after I paid and was told it was being shipped. I’ll get my funds back within 3 days or so EBay says.

Could you send me a link to the original auction since I have also had a set of bike parts 'refused ' once I had paid a German breakers (not NS400). Their reason was they had miscalculated the shipping costs to the UK. I was willing to go half way on the revised charge but they didn't bite.

Hello Mark

Not seen your pm, and I have some space on the forum server so not sure why it hasnt come through.

I have found three panels in Rothman like colours, will clean the dust off and take pictures tomorrow of the flaws.
