Carb resetting after strip.

Post by messer »

Had the carbs off to be ultrasonic cleaned and they have been put back as they were removed. Is there any initial setup I should do before I reinstall on the bike such as setting the throttle opening to get the balance right? I've used a drill bit before to get multiple carbs butterflies close.

Please advise.

Thanks
Tony

There are only a few things to check really

Float height - 13mm - Based on using the Honda special toll, which I believe is just a U shaped ruler, which sits on the carb body.

Throttle valves one and two should be aligned with valve three.

Air screws 1 3/4 turns out

Regards

ok thanks - the air screws are set with the centre carb slightly out more than the other two on mine for some reason but I will reset them to factory settings as given above. It's a jap import bike so I presume it's the same? What is the procedure for setting tge throttle slide then or is it a case of using a set of balance guage when the bikes running?

I've always used feeler gauges to set the slides.

Ok, thanks - whats a good base setting to start from for the slide static balance?

Can't remember. Start with the reading you get off the main slide. Adjust the others to the same feeler thickness under the slide. I think Mark pointed out the one that doesn't adjust.
